Dr. Andreas Papapetropoulos holds a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in Pharmacology.
He is currently Professor of Pharmacology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Affiliated Investigator at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, Greece.
Dr. Papapetropoulos is a fellow of the BPS and the AHA and a member of the Editorial Board of the BJP, JPET and ATVB.
He has served as a National Delegate at the European Medicines Agency. He has been elected as Secretary General of EPHAR for 2016-2020.
Dr. Papapetropoulos has studied the regulation, the physiological functions and the contribution of the nitric oxide/cGMP pathway to disease initiation and progression. More recently, he shifted the focus of his research to the physiology and pharmacology of hydrogen sulfide in the cardiovascular system.
Dr. Papapetropoulos has published 174 publications in peer-reviewed journals that have received more than 20,500 citations.
