Guillermo Morales, Ph.D., M.B.A.

Dr. Morales is Chief Operating Officer of Sulfagenix, Inc.  He brings 25+ years of experience in chemistry and pharmaceutical R&D in positions of increasing responsibility (Director, COO, VP, CBO, CEO) for diverse research programs, working in big pharma, medium size and start-up companies advancing a large number of diverse projects spanning from conception to clinical trials to commercialization.

He is an entrepreneur as cofounder of several drug and technology companies; raising millions of dollars from VCs and non-dilutive government grants; serving as advisor to investors, life science companies and research institutes.

He has 20+ years of experience in business development, strategy, due diligence, licensing, directing research and development programs, fundraising, patent and grant writing, intellectual property assessment, and financial management. Dr. Morales has ample expertise also in international business development, operations improvement and management (USA, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Russia).

Dr. Morales is the lead inventor in 9 granted patents (US and World patents, plus several applications), published more than 40 publications (>35 research articles, 2 books, and 3 book chapters), and currently serves as Advisor/Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grant Reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Molecular Diversity (11 years), has and continues to serve as editorial advisory board member of several journals including Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening, Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, and Journal of Combinatorial Chemistry.

Dr. Morales obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Louisiana State University (1995) and MBA from the Jack Welch Management Institute (2015) (Welch Scholar Distinction, GPA: 4.0/4.0).
